Pricing in Proportion (PiP) is Here!

Added: 22/08/2006 Reporter: Peter James

Pricing in Proportion has arrived. Royal Mail is now charging based on both the weight and size of an item of mail.

So what does this mean? Well in basic terms if you were to print a correspondence on an A4 sheet of paper and stick it into a C4 envelope you will soon have to pay a lot more. This is because Royal Mail machines find it harder to process these large letters and they are now passing the cost on to the consumer. However you do not have to just except these hikes in charges, you can simply fold the same piece of paper and place it into a C5 or DL envelope. As Royal Mail machines find these letters a lot easier to process they have been able to keep these prices down.

So the key is fold your mail, insert it into a C5 or DL envelope, and keep your costs down.

When it comes to folding and inserting paper into envelopes automation can drastically save you money. PFE is one company that has been around for over 40 years and specialises in this field. All PFE folder inserters are capable of folding one or more sheets of paper and inserting them, perhaps with a booklet or other insert, into either a C5 or DL envelope. Their products covers the desktop environment the Mini-Mailer range, office mailing with their Maxi-Mailer range, and all of the way to production mailing with the Auto-Mailer 5.
