The cost of posting a letter with Royal Mail rose on 7th April 2008. An item mailed in Royal Mail Letter format weighing up to 100g now costs 34p for First Class and 24p for Second Class when paying by PPI account or franking machine.
This rise of two pence from 2007 prices continues Royal Mail's aim to bring the cost of mailing to business and consumer inline with their actual delivery costs.
Royal Mail PPI account and franking machine users continue to receive a 2p discount over the consumer price of 36p for First Class and now an even better 3p discount over the consumer price of 27p for Second Class mailings. With these prices Royal Mail are really trying to retain business customers.
