Sending mail back home to loved ones is a real morale booster for troops in the field. That is way it is good to hear the news that Danastar, working with Frama have provided a solution to the Danish Armed Forces to allow mail to be franked by serving personal in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Kosovo and Kuwait.
It may seem obvious to say a war zone is a hostile location, but as well as being hostile to the men and women serving with the Danish Armed Forces, the environment can be hostile to the office equipment that is essential for any modern fighting force. The Frama EcoMail 2015 franking machine was chosen for the task due to its use of thermo transfer technology instead of ink jet. The ink jet technology used in most other franking machines could have easily become clogged with the extra dust and sand found in these unusual "office" environments.
The Frama EcoMail 2015 was also chosen thanks to its durability, and they shall replace for the F100 franking machines that have served the Danish Armed Forces for decades.
Providing the usual Frama data services has been a logistical challenge due to the unusal locations of these franking machines. The Frama EcoMail franking system has been linked to the Frama Data Center in Switzerland, through a variety of communication methods ranging from re-routed landlines to secure satellite connections. Danastar has worked closely with the respective military communication units on the project.
