UPS plane crashes in Middle East

UPS have confirmed that one of its cargo aircraft has crashed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The aircraft, a 747-400, took off from Dubai at approximately 1500 GMT, bound for Cologne, Germany. UPS have confirmed that it is their understanding that two of their employees were aboard. There are no known survivors.

In a statement on their website, UPS said "This is a terrible tragedy and all of us at UPS extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims".

UPS Airlines is Understood to be cooperating with government authorities on the scene, and they have dispatched an investigation team to the site to assist.

The statement went on to say, "The safety and security of our employees and our customers and the public are our highest priorities. We will not rest until a determination has been made concerning the causes and implications of this tragedy".

This is the first tragic accident involving a UPS flight.
