The Great Central Railway's Summer gala this month will be celebrating railway sorting carriages and inviting postal workers to take advantage of discounted tickets to the event.
During a show that takes place over two days (July 25th and 26th), organisers are set to re-create the non-stop mail drop with an original Fairburn tank, which will be brought over from Cumbria, reports In Loughborough.
This involved postal workers sorting mail in train carriages while travelling from one destination to another.
GCR events organiser Steven Chapple told the website: "This will be a very exciting gala. The non-stop mail drop is a great show, we've got a line up of engines never seen together before in the UK and a very busy timetable planned.
"Given the theme of the weekend we are particularly please to be offering generous ticket discounts to all Royal Mail staff past and present and their friends and families."
Bradford-born Charles Fairburn became chief electrical engineer at London, Midland and Scotland railway in 1934.
