Mailing software company Pitney Bowes has announced it has signed an agreement with Kodak to offer imaging and workflow solutions to its customers.
Intended to enable companies to sort and file their important documents more efficiently, the partnership will provide an "end-to-end workflow functionality" solution.
The initiative is also an environmentally-friendly gesture in light of the fact that 44 per cent of paper use by officers workers has been found to be unnecessary.
Leslie Abi-Karam, executive vice president and president of mailing solutions management at Pitney Bowes, commented: "Paper is not easily searchable, it is expensive to store and retrieve, and it is hard to associate the information on one document with the information on other documents."
He added that by working in partnership with Kodak the new software solutions would enable companies to address these issues as well as increase efficiency and bring down costs.
According to Pulp and Paper International, over 11 million tonnes of paper and cardboard, mostly sourced from Scandinavia, are used in the UK every year, reports Friends of the Earth.
