Post Office advises on keeping kids entertained in the car

24/07/2009The Post Office has offered advice to parents as they consider summer holiday options and how best to keep children entertained during the next few weeks.

Long drives to holiday destinations are being favoured by a significant number of families, prompting Post Office Car Insurance to remind drivers to insure car contents.

With as much as £800 being spent on in-car entertainment by parents hoping to keep youngsters amused over the next few weeks, not taking out insurance could prove costly.

Post Office head of car insurance Richard Pennant-Jones commented: "Setting off on holiday or day trips out is an exciting time, but the cost to keep kids entertained on long car journeys can mean expensive items are at risk from being left unattended in the car.

"We are urging parents to keep their belongings safe this summer and out of sight from opportunistic thieves. This includes even short periods of time such as stops at service stations."

Meanwhile, the Driving Standards Association has issued safety tips to people planning long drives during this summer.ADNFCR-1606-ID-19280952-ADNFCR
