Royal Mail last week hit out at the Communication Workers Union (CWU) for their continued call for strike action in London.
The mailing company claims that the threatened action reneges on their agreement to declare a "moratorium" on any more strikes.
Modernisation processes that are being implemented in the capital city are the main issues the CWU is unhappy about, despite the fact that, according to Royal Mail, the changes had been agreed with the unions.
Royal Mail is adamant that modernization is essential to the mailing company's survival, particularly as it recently recorded a 10 per cent drop in volumes in the UK.
Improving efficiency is the aim of the company, which is striving to remain competitive even though 20 per cent fewer items were delivered in London last year compared with 2007.
A number of areas within the capital city have even reported productivity levels that are 35 per cent lower than the best performing places.
Thousands of Royal Mail workers in London and Scotland walked out in June over modernisation plans.
