Royal Mail arranges extra deliveries in run-up to Christmas
17/11/2008Royal Mail is approaching its busiest time of the year with renewed measures to ensure customers receive their items before Christmas.
As the festive period approaches the mailing company has announced it will be organising out-of-hours deliveries.
With 26 million consumers spending £13.6 billion online, Royal Mail is braced for a flurry of demand on delivery and has therefore announced extra deliveries on Sunday December 21st from 18:00 and 21:00 GMT and also on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd.
Mark Higson, Royal Mail managing director, commented: "Royal Mail is prepared for its biggest online Christmas ever and has taken steps to help people get their items as quickly as possible - even if they are not at home when we first try to deliver."
He added that every endeavour is made to ensure packages are delivered first time. On the occasions this does not happen, systems are being put in place to take into account mailing items that need a signature or are too large to fit through the letterbox.
