Royal Mail to make changes to Postcode Address File licence

Royal Mail is working to modernise its processes by bringing about changes in the Postcode Address File (PAF) licence.

The mailing company is attempting what may amount to be an ambitious project, according to Jonathan Hulford-Funnell, managing director of Experian MSG (EMEA) and Experian QAS, reports datastrategy.co.uk.

PAF is often relied upon by direct marketing companies who are keen to take advantage of its GIS mapping and address verification tools.

However, according to Mr Hulford-Funnell, there are a host of other issues that must be taken into consideration before any amendment to the licence can be implemented.

These include corporate licensing, franchises, subsidiary models, broker networks and public sector needs.

Mr Hulford-Funnell told the news provider: "What is important is that we emerge through this process with a commercially-sound licence, encouraging widespread use of PAF and allowing the UK to lead the globe in its approach to contact data management."

Royal Mail employees are currently proposing further strike action in London in a protest against pay and the pace of modernisation.ADNFCR-1606-ID-19255489-ADNFCR
